I work in an area of observed and imagined space, a selective reality.
I am currently working with a large collection of animals and toys as a formal and narrative subject. They provide a complexity of shapes both positive and negative and interesting color harmonies. Over the past 30 years, my paintings have evolved through a series of stages, from paintings of purely imagined compositions to the point where I am today. Starting in 1999, after the death of my mother, I began a series of self portraits, a study made from personal need that I found surprisingly satisfying.
